The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team had six players selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Nov. 15). The student-athletes selected were Holly Bowling, Maddie Coffman, Anna Murphy, Lexi Nesbitt, Alexis Petty, and Savera Rajendra-Nicolucci.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Bowling was the leading scorer for the Hornet offense this season after starting all 16 games. She finished with four goals that included two game-winners. Currently majoring in biology, she holds a cumulative GPA of 3.91.

In the back line was Coffman, who also started all 16 games. He helped the defense limit opponents to one goal a game this season while also collecting an assist. She is a biology-chemistry major and has a 3.75 GPA.

Murphy was an integral part of keeping the ball moving up to the forwards in the midfield. She started in 12 games for the Hornets. Majoring in biology, she has a cumulative 3.97 GPA.

In the net was Nesbitt, who started all 16 games and played 1,460 minutes. She had a 1.36 goals-against average, a .768 save percentage, 73 saves, and four shutouts. She sports a 3.91 GPA while majoring in biology.

Also in the back line was Petty, making 14 starts. She played the center-back position and was a big part of setting the wall to keep pressure off the Kalamazoo goalkeepers. She majors in business with a 3.73 GPA.

Rajendra-Nicolucci made 13 starts and played as a defensive midfielder for the Hornets. She assisted the back line in their work while working the ball up the field to lead to goals. Majoring in biology, she has a 3.70 GPA.

Now that the six student-athletes have made the district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in early December.
