Kalamazoo College's Tristyn Edsall was named MIAA Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday.
A sophomore from Kentwood, Mich. (Wyoming Kelloggsville HS), Edsall won two sprint freestyle races and anchored the winning leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay with an in-season personal best :23.38 as the Hornets knocked off defending MIAA champion Calvin, 124-119, last Friday. Edsall's anchor split helped the Hornets break the pool record in the 200 free relay by 1.5 seconds and clinched the meet for Kalamazoo. She also won the 50 freestyle (:24.49) and 100 freestyle (:54.02, another in-season best) against the Knights. On Saturday, Edsall won the 50 free (:24.80) and 100 free (:54.28) and anchored Kalamazoo's winning 400 free relay team at the Wheaton, Ill. Quad.
She is being honored as MIAA Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and in her career.
