Women's Swimming & Diving wins four events on second night of MIAA Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's swimming & diving team had a strong day at the MIAA Championships on Thursday. Kalamazoo won the first four events of the evening and set school records in five of the six events.

The 200 Free Relay team (Miranda Doepker, Hannah Olsen, Christina Park, Tristyn Edsall) took first place with a school record time of 1:35.31, beating Calvin by .04 seconds. 

Lauren Seroka won the 500 Freestyle for the third straight year with a school record time of 4:59.97, nearly six seconds faster than anyone else.

Colleen Orwin won the 200 IM with a school record time of 2:07.50.

Tristyn Edsall and Hannah Olsen went one-two in the 50 Freestyle. Edsall won the event in :23.74 while Olsen finished in :24.18. Edsall's prelim time of :23.23 also set school and MIAA records.

Madeline Woods finished second in the 3-meter diving event with a school record score of 466.10. She also broke the school record with a score of 448.80 in prelims.

Kalamazoo closed out the night by finishing third in the 400 Medley Relay (Christina Park, Jessica Varana, Colleen Orwin, Tristyn Edsall) with a time of 3:56.20, just missing a school record by .07 seconds.

With two nights remaining Kalamazoo is in second place with 260 points. Calvin and Hope are tied for first just two points ahead at 262.
