Kalamazoo College's Colleen Orwin was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Swimmer/Diver of the Week on Monday for meets through Dec. 6.
Orwin, a junior from Portage, Mich. (Portage Northern HS), set a new MIAA record in the 400 IM by two seconds with a 4:27.99 while achieving an NCAA B cut. She also achieved NCAA B cuts in the 200 fly with a 2:06.07 and in the 100 fly by clocking in at 56.77.
With a split of 57.19 in the 100 fly, Orwin helped the Hornets achieve a new school record in the 400 Medley Relay. She also led off the 800 freestyle relay in 1:54.35; that time set a school record in the 200 free. Orwin's 50 fly split of 25.2 in the 200 Medley Relay helped the team attain another NCAA B cut.
Kalamazoo returns to dual meet action Jan. 8, 2016 at Olivet College.
