Colleen Orwin was named the league's Most Valuable Swimmer at the conclusion of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships on Saturday at Calvin.

Orwin won three individual events and was on a championship relay team at last week's championship meet.

She broke school and MIAA records while winning the 200 IM with the 10th fastest time in the country (2:04.08). She also broke school and MIAA records while winning the 400 IM with the fourth fastest time in the country (4:22.79).

Orwin won the 200 butterfly (2:03.94) while also breaking school and MIAA records in prelims with the seventh fastest time in the country (2:03.73).

She swam the butterfly leg of the championship 200 medley relay team that broke a school record and is currently eighth in the country (1:44.03).

In addition, Orwin broke the school record in the 200 freestyle (1:54.35) earlier in the season, and her 100 butterfly time trial swim currently ranks ninth in the country.

The women's swimming and diving team finished third at last week's conference championships. It is the second consecutive year a Hornet was named league MVP as Tristyn Edsall earned the award last year.
