Relay earns honorable mention All-American distinction

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The swimming and diving NCAA Division III Championships began Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C. and the Kalamazoo College swimmers showed well in the first of four days of action.

Wednesday's highlight came in the 200 medley relay where the team of Christina Park, Ellen Neveux, Colleen Orwin and Tristyn Edsall earned honorable mention All-American honors with a 16th place finish in the evening finals.

The relay team finished the 200 yards with a time of 1:46.20 and raced even faster in the preliminary with a time of 1:45.58.

Individually, Orwin and Edsall each competed in one event in the morning preliminary sessions. Orwin finished 19th in the 200 individually medley with a time of 2:05.70 while Edsall swam the 50 freestyle coming in 21st with a time of 23.64.

The Championships resume tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. The Hornets will compete in the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays, Orwin will swim the 100 butterfly and diving gets underway as Madeline Woods competes in the one meter dive.
