KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Following the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships hosted by Calvin over the weekend, the Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving team has placed three athletes on the All-MIAA teams. Molly Roberts earned a place on the team for swimmers and Madeline Woods and Nicki Bailey earned the recognition for divers with Bailey also being named Most Valuable Diver.
Bailey, a freshman from Grand Rapids, was K's only female league champion as she captured the three meter diving event with a score of 446.50. Bailey followed up that performance with a second place finish on the one meter board. Her one meter score of 444.50 broke the Kalamazoo College record for 11 dives on that board that had stood since 1985.
Named the MIAA Most Valuable Diver for her efforts, Bailey is the first Kalamazoo women's diver in program history to earn Most Valuable recognition. This is Bailey's first All-MIAA selection.
Madeline Woods, a senior from Ann Arbor, took second place on the three meter board with a score of 442.35. She followed that up with a fourth place finish in the one meter event with a score of 414.65. With her scores she, along with Bailey, has qualified for the NCAA DIII Diving Regionals which will take place March 2-3.
With her All-MIAA selection this season, Woods becomes only the seventh woman in program history to earn All-MIAA honors in each of her four seasons.
Roberts, a freshman from Grand Blanc, placed in a variety of events for the Hornets. She took fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:10.84 and fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of :57.99. Her 400 medley relay team swam 4:03.47 to take fourth place and she was also part of the 800 freestyle relay team that finished fourth in a time of 7:58.24.
This is Roberts' first selection to the All-MIAA team.
