Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Alma in Regular Season Finale

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season with a road dual at Alma on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 28). The Hornets defeated the Scots 206-85 as K had a first-place finisher in 14 of the 16 events.

Sam Vande Pol swept the top of the podium in the diving events, scoring 238.04 points in the 1-meter and 252.90 points in the 3-meter. The Hornets took first in both relay races as Camille Misra, Mary Muenzenmaier, Olivia Bagwell, and Mya Richter swam a 1:54.95 in the 200 Medley, and then Lizzy Silber, Anni Schnell, Misra, and Richter touch the wall at 1:44.76 in the 200 Free. 

A trio of first-year swimmers claimed a couple of individual wins on the day. First, Frannie Turner won the 100 Back with a 1:06.95 and then took the 400 IM in 5:00.12. Schnell swam a 2:30.37 in the 200 Fly and then finished at 1:02.25 in the 100 Fly. Then, Muenzenmaier went 1:11.49 in the 100 Breast and 2:37.59 in the 200 Breast. 

Finishing out the wins on the day was Hailey Yoder in the 200 Free (2:06.96), Bagwell in the 50 Free (25.88), Silber in the 100 Free (58.12), and Misra in the 500 Free (5:22.03).

The Hornets will next compete at the MIAA Championships on Feb. 15-18, as Calvin hosts the event.
