Sarah Woods falls in round of 32 at the NCAA III Women's Tennis Individual Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Kalamazoo women's tennis player Sarah Woods saw her sophomore season come to an end with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Kara Shoemaker of Williams College at the NCAA III Women's Tennis Individual Championships Thursday, May 22. 

Shoemaker, ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the field, got off to a 4-1 lead in the first set and never looked back. 

Woods finishes her sophomore campaign with a 19-5 overall record. Woods was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year and helped Kalamazoo won its first outright MIAA title since 1995.

Last season, Woods advanced to the round of 16 before being knocked out by the nation's top player, Kristin Lim of Claremont-Mudd-Scripts.
