Women's Tennis edged 5-4 at Coe

The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was defeated 5-4 in a five and a half hour regional contest at Coe College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo entered the match ranked No. 10 in the Central Region while the host Kohawks were ranked No. 15. Kalamazoo fell to 3-1 while Coe improved to 12-2 on the season.

Coe took a 2-1 lead following doubles. Kalamazoo's Sarah Woods and Sabrina Dass won 8-5 at one doubles, but Coe won 8-3 at two and 9-8 at three.

The two teams each won three singles matches. Olivia Bouchard (6-1, 6-2) and Carrie Foura (6-2, 6-2) each won in straight sets at four and six singles. Sarah Woods won 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 at one singles.

Coe won in straight sets at two and three singles as well as in three sets at five singles.

Kalamazoo returns to action on Sunday against Luther College at 9 a.m. CT.
