KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team advanced to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament final Thursday afternoon as the Hornets defeated Calvin College in a semifinal match at Stowe Stadium.
The Hornets won, 5-1, leaving the final three matches of the day unfinished.
Kalamazoo got off to a strong start winning two of the three doubles matches. Sarah Woods and Sabrina Dass took one doubles 8-1, while Maria Franco and Sonal Bahl took two doubles 8-4.
Clinching the win for the Hornets in the singles matches were Woods, Franco and Siani Johnson.
Woods took one singles 6-1, 6-1 while Johnson went 6-1, 6-2 at four singles.
Franco took her three singles match 6-3, 6-0.
With the victory, Kalamazoo advances to play regular season champion Hope College in the tournament final tomorrow afternoon in Holland, Mich.
