Women's Tennis picks up first win of spring break

ORLANDO, Fla. – In its first of three matches in Orlando, Fla. over spring break, the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team defeated Elmhurst College 8-1 Tuesday afternoon.

After doubles, the Hornets held the slight 2-1 edge courtesy of wins from Eloise Germic and Laura Hanselman at two doubles and Siani Johnson and Alexandria Oswalt at three doubles.

With Maria Franco and Sabrina Dass falling in their doubles match, they each rallied and bounced back to win their singles matches at one and two singles. Franco picked up the one singles win going 7-5, 6-3 while Dass swept two singles going 6-0, 6-0.

Hanselman proved to be the clinching match as she picked up the fifth team point at three singles winning 6-2, 6-2.

Also picking up singles wins for K were Germic (6-1,6-1), Johnson (6-0, 6-0) and Oswalt (6-0, 6-0).

The Hornets will rest up over the next 24 hours before taking on Carthage College at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening.
