HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team's season came to an end in the MIAA Tournament championship match Saturday at Hope College. The Flying Dutch defeated the Hornets 5-0 to advance to the NCAA III Championships.
Hope swept the three doubles points, including a narrow 8-7(3) win at three doubles and an 8-6 win at two doubles.
Hope proceeded to win two singles matches to claim the win.
Meghan Killmaster was up 6-3, 2-1 at six singles when the match was decided. Sophie Zhuang was up in a first set tiebreak at three singles. Renee Torres had just taken a lead in the second set at two singles.
Kalamazoo advanced to Saturday's championship match after a 7-1 league record during the regular season followed by a 5-1 win over Calvin in the semifinals on Thursday.
