Juliana Pullen of the Kalamazoo College women's tennis team was selected as the MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday (Apr. 8). This is the second time in her first collegiate tennis season that she has earned the conference honor.
The Hornets continued MIAA play with two home matches against Calvin on Apr. 2 and Adrian on Apr. 6 before heading to Alma on Apr. 7. Kalamazoo fell to the Knights 5-4 before rebounding to be the Bulldogs 6-3 and the Scots 8-1.
Pullen was undefeated in the #1 singles spot last week by defeating Calvin 6-1, 6-3, Adrian 6-1, 6-2, and Alma 6-0, 6-0. Pullen and doubles partner Maddie Pullen defeated the #1 Knight doubles team 8-2, fell against Adrian 5-8, and beat Alma 8-4. In her first collegiate tennis season, Pullen is 9-6 in singles matches, including 7-4 in dual matches in the #1 spot. Pullen and Hurley have played every doubles match together and are 10-10 with a 7-7 in the #1 spot for dual matches.
Kalamazoo will continue MIAA play with road matches at Saint Mary's on Saturday (Apr. 13) and Olivet on Sunday (Apr. 14).
