Volleyball falls to Anderson, Case Western in Green Hornet Invitational

The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost its season opener 3-0 to Anderson University (Ind.) in the Green Hornet Invitational on Friday.

The Hornets played tough in the first two sets before falling 25-19 and 25-21. Anderson jumped out to an early lead in the third set and closed out the match with a 25-10 win.

Quinn McCormick and Kelsey Hill each had six kills to lead Kalamazoo. Alex Gothard had five kills in 14 attempts (.357 pct) to go with 21 assists and five digs. Nya Greenstone and Johanna Kupe each finished with four kills.

Allison Liddane had a team-high 15 digs.

Kalamazoo dropped its second match of the night, 3-0, to Case Western Reserve University (25-17, 25-10, 25-16).

Kelsey Hill led Kalamazoo with five kills. Nya Greenstone had four kills and a team-high 13 digs.

Alex Gothard had three kills, 11 assists, and five digs.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match against Defiance College before wrapping up the day with a 3 p.m. match against Franklin College.
