KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Riding a two-game winning streak, the Kalamazoo College volleyball team could not keep the momentum rolling as the Hornets fell in straight sets to the Alma Scots by scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-21.

Alma jumped out to an 11-7 lead in the first set. Kalamazoo would chip away at the lead and eventually tie the set at 20-20 with a kill from senior right side Quinn McCormick followed by a Scot attack error. Alma responded by closing the set out on a 5-2 run. A kill from Lea Klooster sealed the set for the Scots.

In set two, Alma jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Set three was very similar to set one. Alma led early, and Kalamazoo battled back. The Hornets got within a single point at 20-19, but could not get any closer. Alma closed out the match with an ace on match point.

"Give credit to Alma tonight," Kalamazoo Head Coach Jeanne Hess said. "They served aggressively and their middles were very effective."

McCormick led K with eight kills on 27 attack attempts with three errors. Junior setter Alex Gothard dished out 19 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Nya Greenstone led K with 11 digs.

Klooster led the victorious Scots with 11 kills.

"We have to bounce back quickly for a match against a good Olivet team," said Hess.

The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
