Volleyball defeated by Fredonia State, Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost its first match on Saturday, 3-1, to Fredonia State.

After falling 25-13, 25-22, Kalamazoo rallied to win the third set, 25-20. Fredonia State came back to win the fourth set, 25-23.

Sophie Spencer led the Hornets with eight kills and a .286 attack percentage.

Kaela Van Til and Shelby Suseland each had six kills while Paige Johnson, Olivia Cares and Sidney Wall each added five. 

Paige Johnson had 19 assists with 12 digs while Camille Giacobone had 15 assists with 11 digs.

Dana DeVito had a team-high 18 digs while Kennedy Boulton added 10. DeVito also had five service aces in the match.

Kalamazoo faced host Hiram Saturday night and was defeated, 3-0 (25-13, 30-28, 25-17).

Noa Yaakoby led Kalamazoo with eight kills in the match. Olivia Cares and Kaela Van Til each had six. Shelby Suseland finished with five.

Paige Johnson had 23 assists with four kills. Dana DeVito had 15 digs while Alexandria Oswalt finished with 10.

Kalamazoo returns to MIAA play with a match at Saint Mary's on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
