Volleyball challenges No. 11 Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost in three sets to No. 11 Hope on Tuesday, but not without a fight.

After dropping the first set 25-8, Kalamazoo responded in the second set by leading 20-19. The Flying Dutch rallied to win the set 25-22.

Kalamazoo jumped out to an early lead (7-2) in the third set forcing Hope to take a timeout. Kalamazoo increased its lead to 12-4 only to see Hope win the next nine points to take a 13-12 lead. Kalamazoo regained the lead 18-17, but the Flying Dutch again rallied with eight straight points to win the set (25-18) and the match.

Noa Yaakoby led Kalamazoo with five kills on the night. Kaela Van Til added four kills with 10 digs. Olivia Cares, Shelby Suseland and Sidney Wall each had three kills.

Cares finished with four block assists as part of Kalamazoo's six total team blocks. Kaiya Herman-Hilker posted 17 assists while Dana DeVito had 18 digs.

Kalamazoo plays its final home game of the season this Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. against Olivet College.
