Volleyball splits Saturday matches

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches in the Anderson Athletic Center on Saturday.

Kalamazoo dropped the opener to Hiram (25-13, 25-17, 25-17) before beating Anderson in four sets (26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14).

Maria Katrantzi led Kalamazoo with nine kills and nine digs against Hiram. Kaela Van til added six kills.

Paige Johnson recorded 10 assists while Dana DeVito led the team with 14 digs.

The offense looked much better against Anderson as the Hornets hit .204 as a team in the match.

Van Til led the way with 15 kills and 17 digs with just one attack error. Sidney Wall added 11 kills with just one error for a .417 attack percentage. Katrantzi added 10 kills with 14 digs.

Kaiya Herman-Hilker recorded 21 assists with Johnson earning 20. Dana DeVito had 24 digs.

Kalamazoo returns to conference play with a home match against Adrian on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
