HANCOCK, Mich. – It was a good weekend for the Kalamazoo College volleyball team. And that might be an understatement.

After picking up two wins Friday, the Hornets ended the weekend 4-0 after picking up two more wins Saturday afternoon against Great Lake Christian and Finlandia.

Match One

In the first match on Saturday it was domination from the get-go for Kalamazoo as the Hornets swept Great Lake Christian, 3-0. The Hornets won each game by more 16 or more points.

Kaela Van Til led the Hornets with seven kills in the match on the way to hitting an impressive .462. Shelby Suseland was closely behind in the kills category with six.

Defensively, Dana DeVito recorded four digs.

As a team, the Hornets had a hitting percentage of .318.

Match Two

After cruising through its first match of the day, Kalamazoo ran into a tough group from Finlandia but ultimately prevailed with a 3-1 win.

Finlandia got off to a strong start taking the first set 27-25, but it was all Hornets the rest of the way. Kalamazoo took the second set, 25-18, the third set, 25-20, and the fourth set, 25-17.

First-year Shamari Browning led the Hornets in the front court with 11 kills. The Kalamazoo Central product also recorded two service aces.

Sidney Wall and Suseland also did well for the Hornets' attack, recording nine and eight kills, respectively.

With the wins this weekend, Kalamazoo improves to 7-11 overall and gets back to MIAA action this week when the Hornets travel to nationally ranked Hope on Oct. 4.
