Volleyball Sweeps at Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team improved to 5-0 with a three-set win at Manchester University Wednesday night (26-24, 25-16, 25-13). The 5-0 start is the third-best in program history.

The first set went back-and-forth and was eventually tied 24-24 before Kalamazoo won the final two points to win the set. The second set was tied 8-8 before the Hornets used an 11-1 run to take an 18-9 lead. Manchester cut the deficit to six (21-15) before Kalamazoo closed out the set 25-16. Kalamazoo led 7-5 in the third before a 12-1 run put the Hornets ahead 19-6 before finishing the set 25-13 to complete the sweep.

Kalamazoo hit .310 in the match and took advantage of nine service aces. 

Madi Goodman led the Hornets with 10 kills and just one error for a .500 attack percentage. Ashley Rill added eight kills while Hannah Kerns had seven.

Grace Kraft recorded 24 assists and seven digs while Taylor Ferguson led the team with 10 digs.

McKenna Hepler had four aces in the match to go with her seven digs.

Kalamazoo is back in action Friday with a 5 p.m. match against Allegheny College in the MIAA/NCAC Crossover in Lansing, Mich. The Hornets follow that up with matches at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
