Volleyball Drops Season Opener at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost its season opener at DePauw University on Friday, 25-17, 25-22, 25-16.

After trailing early in the first set, Kalamazoo put together a six-point run to cut the deficit to four (16-12). 

In set two, Kalamazoo scored the first five points and led 16-12 at one point.

The Hornets fell behind early in set three as well and were unable to mount enough of a comeback to win the set.

DePauw hit .191 in the match with nine service aces. Kalamazoo hit .110 with four aces.

Ann Lawrence led the Hornets with nine kills and a .286 hitting percentage.

Halley Johnson had eight kills with seven digs and three block assists.

Brittany Miller had four kills while leading the team with 12 digs.

Jana Molby led the team with 14 assists.

The Hornets are back in action at DePauw on Saturday with matches against Carthage at 10 a.m. and Concordia Chicago at 12:30 p.m.
