Volleyball Falls in Home Finale

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost its home finale Tuesday night to Albion College in a competitive match, 26-24, 25-21, 25-14.

The first set was back-and-forth all the way to a 24-24 tie before Albion scored the final two points to win the set.

Kalamazoo led by five (17-12) in the second before Albion scored 13 of the next 17 points to win the set.

Kalamazoo led 7-5 in the third but never regained the lead after an 8-8 tie as the Britons pulled away to win the set and the match.

Albion hit .280 overall compared to .193 by Kalamazoo, the Hornets' best hitting percentage in a match since Sept. 23.

Ann Lawrence led the Hornets with eight kills while hitting .421. 

Savannah Chapie and Taylor Stephens each finished with seven kills.

Rorie Dougherty led the team with 16 assists and 14 digs. Sara Reathaford added 10 assists. Lizzy Rachiele had seven assists with 14 digs and three service aces.

Halley Johnson finished with three kills and 14 digs. Emma Stickley had three kills with a team-high three blocks.

Kalamazoo travels to Saint Mary's for a non-conference match on Friday, Oct. 27, before finishing the season at Calvin on Nov. 4.
