With another year of Hornet athletics coming and going, we've reviewed the best moments of 2015-16 and we're shining a light on them one more time before the 2016-17 year begins.

This week's pick? Women's cross country runner, Lauren Arquette, winning the Lansing Invitational in just the third collegiate meet of her career.

Race Recap

"Arquette wins Lansing Invitational"

The Kalamazoo College women's cross country team finished in 11th place at the Lansing Invitational Friday afternoon, but the show was stolen by first-year runner Lauren Arquette who place first overall with a time of 18:36 in the five-kilometer race.

Arquette, who placed third and fourth at the first two meets of the year, made the break through at Friday's meet which included four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools.

Arquette finished 18 second clear of the next closest runner from the MIAA, Alma's Kaitlyn Arnold.

Anna Roodbergen was Kalamazoo's next fastest runner, finishing in 62nd place with a time of 21:07.

Mira Swearer came in at 82nd while Margot Courand and Cheyenne Allyn-White rounded out the top five for Kalamazoo with places of 87th and 98th, respectively.

The women's cross country team will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh next Saturday, Oct. 17 for the Pre-Nationals meet.
