LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Kalamazoo College women's cross country team finished 30th at the shortened Louisville Classic on Saturday.

According to the host, a gate was opened at the wrong time due to a lapped runner, which caused the field to deviate to an alternate course for safety of spectators.

The Games Committee determined that the race will be scored at 3.9k (last split point).

Anna Varitek led the Hornets with a time of 15:07 through the 3.9k. Rachael Gallap timed at 15:23.

Gwendolyn Flatland (16:26), Rachel Cornell (17:21), and Kathryn LeVasseur (17:21) rounded out the top five for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo is back in action Oct. 19 at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin.
