Paige Anderson of the Kalamazoo College women's cross country team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Nov. 1).
The Hornets ran at the MIAA Championships on Oct. 28 to continue its season and finished fourth out of nine teams after scoring 111 points. Kalamazoo closed the gap on Trine for third place by 41 points, being only 31 points behind them this year compared to 70 last season.
For the second consecutive season, Anderson was an All-MIAA First Team honoree after finishing fourth overall at the MIAA Championships. She ran the fastest 6k that she has ever run, crossing the line in 21:25. That beat her previous personal best by 37 seconds, which she ran the Wheaton Gil Dodds Invite earlier this season. Anderson's average mile team had previously been in between 5:55 and 6:08, but this past time out, she was running at a 5:45 pace. This season, she has five top-15 finishes in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, and 12th. Anderson will look to be an All-Region runner for the second straight season at the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional.
Kalamazoo will next run at the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional on Saturday (Nov. 11).
