Gabe Vidinas of the Kalamazoo College men's tennis team was selected as the MIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday (Feb. 13). This is the third time in his career that Vidinas has collected player of the week honors, with one coming earlier this season and the other coming last season.

Kalamazoo played an exhibition match against Olivet (Apr. 12), a home match against Hope (Apr. 14), and a road match at #1 Case Western Reserve (Apr. 16). The Hornets defeated the Comets in the exhibition 6-0, moved to 4-0 in the MIAA over the Flying Dutchmen 6-3, and fell to the Spartans 9-0.

Vidinas went 1-1 in the #1 singles and doubles spots on the week. He defeated Hope 8-5 with Peter Fitzgerald in doubles and then took the singles match 6-3, 6-4. Vidinas dropped both matches against Case Western Reserve 8-5 in doubles and 6-1, 6-2 in singles.

For his career, Vidinas is 32-19 (14-1 MIAA) in singles matches and 18-21 (9-1 MIAA) in doubles matches. The senior was selected to the All-MIAA First Team in 2022 after finishing 13-8 (7-0 MIAA) in singles and 9-12 (5-1 MIAA) in doubles. He was also an All-MIAA Second Team member in 2021 and is an MIAA Academic Honor Roll member.

The Hornets will wrap up the regular season with two road matches against Trine (Apr. 19) and Calvin (Apr. 22), with an opportunity to secure the MIAA regular season title.
