Softball Falls to No. 9 Trine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to No. 9 Trine on Wednesday, 12-3 and 11-3.

Game One

The league-leading Thunder led 4-1 after the first inning before adding eight runs over the next three innings. Kalamazoo scored two in the bottom of the fifth and had two runners on when the final out was made.

Hayleigh Alamo led the Hornets with two hits and three RBIs. Her first hit was a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The home run was Alamo's fourth of the season, a new school record.

Alamo drove in the other two runs with a single in the bottom of the fifth.

Game Two

The second game was scoreless after two innings before Trine scored twice in the bottom of the third. Kalamazoo scored a run in the fourth, but a five-run inning for Trine in the bottom of the sixth put the Thunder up 7-1. Kalamazoo scored twice in the top of the sixth, but a four-run bottom half ended the game in favor of Trine.

Keelin McManus was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. She drove home a run in the third with a single before hitting a 2-run home run in the sixth.

Kalamazoo is currently scheduled to play a doubleheader at Defiance College on Thursday, April 11.
