GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell on the road Saturday afternoon at Calvin College by a final score of 76-44.

The Hornets got down early as the Knights jumped out to a 16-6 lead with 1:24 remaining in the first quarter, but the Knights lead was extended even further in the first quarter as they went on a 10-5 run heading into the second period.

Calvin's lead was extended to 44-20 at halftime.

The Hornets hoped to make a second half push and they were able to cut the Knights' lead to 18 with 4:29 remaining in the third quarter, but that's as close as Kalamazoo would come to completing its comeback.

Leading the way offensively for the Hornets was Grace Smith with nine points to go along with six rebounds.

Kelsey Adamski and Danielle Simon each scored eight points in the loss while Claire Slaughter and Emily Kozal each had seven.

The Knights held the Hornets to just 30.5 percent shooting from the field. Calvin shot 40 percent in the game.

Kalamazoo will look to bounce back at home as Albion comes to Anderson Athletic Center on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
