Volleyball defeated by Anderson, Manchester

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team lost a pair of matches in the MIAA/HCAC Challenge at Adrian College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo lost the opener to Anderson 25-16, 25-23, 13-25, 25-20.

Shelby Suseland led the Hornets with 14 kills and just three errors in 28 attempts with four block assists. Kaela Van Til added 11 kills while Noa Yaakoby finished with 10.

Paige Johnson had 38 assists with five digs. Logan Horejsi had 30 digs while Dana DeVito recorded 21 digs.

Kalamazoo lost the second match of the day to Manchester in five sets. Kalamazoo won the first two sets 25-21, 25-23 berfore dropping the next three 25-17, 25-22, 15-13.

Suseland again led the Hornets in kills with 12 along with five block assists. Van Til, Yaakoby and Olivia Cares each had eight kills.

Johnson had 35 assists while Horejsi and DeVito had 24 and 17 digs, respectively.

Following the tournament Suseland was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Kalamazoo returns home to open conference play against Alma College on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.
