Jana Molby of the Kalamazoo College volleyball team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 18).
The Hornets have now won five of their last six matches, thanks to a 2-1 record last week, and currently sits sixth in the MIAA. The Hornets were defeated by Adrian 3-0 on Oct. 12 but then earned 3-0 sweeps on back-to-back days (Oct. 14-15) against Grace Christian and Great Lakes Christian.
Molby led the team with 50 assists in the three matches while also collecting 16 digs and an ace. She nearly had a double-double in the Grace Christian match but set a career-high 25 assists in just three sets. Molby reached double-digit assists in all three matches this week and has accumulated at least 20 in six matches this season.
As a sophomore, Molby has taken a step forward, being the primary starter in the setter role. She leads the team with 293 assists on the year, good for 4.01 assists per set. Molby is also fourth on the team in digs (96) and service aces (20) this season.
The Hornets' lone match will be on Tuesday (Oct. 18) at Albion while also hosting an alumni match on Saturday (Oct. 22) for homecoming weekend.
