Baseball falls at Calvin, 5-0, 6-1

The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost a pair of MIAA games at Calvin on Saturday, 5-0 and 6-1.

Calvin scored two runs in the first and three runs in the fourth while holding Kalamazoo scoreless in the opener. The Knights had five hits in the game and took advantage of six walks. Kalamazoo had four hits in the contest and did not have the aid of any walks.

Anthony Shaheen was 2-for-2 while Eric Glanz and Adam McDowell each had a single.

Kalamazoo trailed 4-1 after the fourth inning in the second game before the Knights added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Calvin had 12 hits compared to four for Kalamazoo.

Brett Thomas was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Shaheen and Marc Zughaib had the other hits for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Holy Cross College (Ind.) in a non-conference doubleheader at Homer Stryker Field on Tuesday, April 9 at 2 p.m.
