Baseball falls to Butler in rain-shortened game

WESTFIELD, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team was defeated 8-2 by NCAA Division I Butler University in a rain-shortened contest on Tuesday. 

After scoring at least one run in each of the first four innings, Butler led 6-0 going into the fifth inning. Kalamazoo used a walk, double and single in the top of the fifth to score two runs making it a 6-2 game. Butler scored another pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 8-2 before the game was called on account of rain.

Butler had nine hits in the contest while limiting Kalamazoo to three.

Joey Aliotta doubled in the fifth and scored on Ben Blomme's single. Mitchell VanKoevering had a single in the fourth inning.

Kalamazoo returns to non-conference action on Thursday, May 1 with a home doubleheader against Rochester College beginning at 2 p.m.
