KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo College baseball team defeated Alma 8-4 this evening. The win put the men's overall record at 9-5 and an impressive 6-0 in conference play.
The Scots scored one run in the top of the first to gain the lead early in the ball game. Kalamazoo quickly answered in the bottom of the first with two runs batted in by Jack Clark. Then in the fourth inning Kalamazoo pushed their lead out to 6-1 with two RBI's from Mitchell VanKoevering and an RBI each from Nate Donovan and Joey Aliotta.
In the bottom of the fourth the Hornets extended their lead out to 8-1 with another RBI from Joey Aliotta and a triple for an RBI from John Jackoviak.
Aaron Schwark got the win for the Hornets as he threw 4.1 innings of two run ball. Steve Simmons was credited with the save as he came in and got the last out of the game after the Scots had already scored two seventh inning runs and had the bases loaded.
The Hornets are scheduled to play two tomorrow at Alma.
