OLIVET, MI - The Kalamazoo College baseball team beat Olivet in both games of a double header today 6-4, and 11-0. Kalamazoo's record is now 17-11 overall, and 12-6 in MIAA play.

In game one the Hornets had to battle back after falling behind 2-0 in the first inning. Kalamazoo scored three times in the top of the fourth, including a two-run home run from Joey Aliotta.

Kalamazoo added to its lead in the fifth inning when Scott Devine drove in a run and scored a run off an error. The Comets didn't disappear however and scored a run in both the fifth and six making it a 5-4 ball game before Kalamazoo went up in the top of the seventh. Then Ian Kobernick hit a solo homerun that gave the Hornets the insurance they needed to hold on and win the ball game.

Ryan Orr remains undefeated and got another W after throwing six innings and allowing four runs. Zach Popovich closed things out for the Hornets and got the save after throwing a scoreless seventh inning. It was Popovich's fourth save of the year.

In the second game Kalamazoo's bats really came alive and its pitching was close to perfect. The Hornets scored eleven runs and gave up zero while outhitting the Comets 9-4.

Kalamazoo's first big scoring inning came in the second when Ben Blomme drove in two runs with a double and Ian Kobernick hit his second home run of the afternoon that drove in three.

The Hornets then put up another four runs in the third inning with contributions from Jack Clark, Joey Alliota and Nate Donovan in the scoring column. Joey Alliota would homer in the fifth to score Kalamazoo's 11th run.

Aaron Schwark was great from the mound to match his run support. He threw a complete game shutout while only allowing four hits and striking out four batters.

Kalamazoo will play the third and fourth games of the four game series against Olivet tomorrow morning at home.
