LA CROSSE, Wis. – After winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament championship less than a week ago, the Kalamazoo College baseball team played its first NCAA Regional game in program history against Concordia University of Illinois.

The Hornets fell 13-2 to the Cougars.

Concordia jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first but Kalamazoo picked up starting pitcher Aaron Schwark in the top of the third. The Hornets drew four walks in the inning, two of which were drawn by Mitchell VanKoevering and Brett Garwood with the bases loaded, and brought themselves within a run of the Cougars, but Concordia's bats stayed hot.

The Cougars matched the Hornets' two runs in the top of the third with two of their own in the bottom half before putting up six runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Hornets were limited to just five hits in the game while Concordia recorded 14. Ryan Orr led Kalamazoo offensively with a pair of hits and a run scored.

With the loss, Kalamazoo is scheduled to play tomorrow afternoon against North Central in an elimination game. First pitch is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. EDT.
