Baseball splits with Mt. St. Mary

EMERSON, Ga. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader with Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) Tuesday at the Perfect Game Complex at LakePoint.

Game One

The score was tied 1-1 after the first inning and remained tied until the fourth when the Knights pushed two runs across. Mount Saint Mary added three runs in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead. Kalamazoo scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and had two runners in scoring position when the game ended.

Josh Reuter led the Hornets offensively with two hits and two runs scored. 

Game Two

Kalamazoo scored first in the bottom of the third, but Mount Saint Mary quickly tied it up with a run in the top of the fourth. Kalamazoo exploded for five runs in the fourth and added four runs in the fifth on the way to the 10-1 victory.

John Kunec and Jack Tagget allowed just one hit each to limit the Knights to just two hits in the game. Each pitcher also struck out four batters.

Andre Gard was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and four RBIs. Chase Coselamn also had two hits with two RBIs. 

Kalamazoo and Mount Saint Mary are scheduled to finish the series with a single 9-inning game on Wednesday at noon.
