Baseball Wins Final Game, Series at Earlham

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College baseball team defeated Earlham 6-4 on Sunday as the Hornets took two out of three in the series. 

Earlham scored a run in the third and fourth innings to lead 2-0 after four. Kalamazoo put up six runs in the fifth highlighted by Blake Bean's RBI single and a Noah Hecht's grand slam.

Earlham made it a 6-3 game with a run in the seventh. The Quakers loaded the bases in the eighth but the Hornets were able to get out of the jam.

An Earlham home run in the ninth made it 6-4 before Kalamazoo got a pop out and a strikeout to end the game.

Earlham had 10 hits compared to five by Kalamazoo.

Blake Bean finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Noah Hecht drove in four runs with the grand slam.

Jack Tagget struck out six in five innings of work to earn the win. John Kunec closed out the ninth inning for the save.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to return to action Thursday, March 19 in Tucson, Ariz.
