Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Calvin

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader with Calvin on Saturday at Woodworth Field. With Friday's win and one on Saturday, Kalamazoo won the season series.

Game One

Calvin won the first game of the doubleheader, 9-4. Kalamazoo scored a run in the first, but a five-run third put the Knights ahead. Calvin led 7-2 going into the sixth.

Calvin had 12 hits compared to 11 by Kalamazoo.

Blake Bean had four hits with a double and two RBIs.

Noah Hecht, Max Gordon and Lukas Bolton each had two hits. Gordon and Bolton each had a double. Bolton also had two RBIs.

Game Two

Kalamazoo won game two 13-6. Kalamazoo trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the sixth before putting eight runs on the board. The Hornets added a run in the seventh and eighth while holding Calvin scorelss the final three innings.

Kalamazoo outhit Calvin 16-8 in the game. 

Harrison Poeszat had three hits including a double and a triple with an RBI.

Lukas Bolton also had three hits with an RBI.

Spencer Baldwin had a double and a triple with three RBIs.

Doug Propson and Max Gordon both had two hits and two RBIs. Ben Chosid had two hits and one RBI. 

Cade Thune and Brenden Oprinski pitched the final three innings without allowing a run. Thune struck out three in his two innings of work.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to host Hope next on Tuesday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
