#24 Baseball Defeats Calvin Behind Jacob Davis' Complete Game Shutout

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The #24 Kalamazoo College baseball team defeated Calvin 3-0 in the MIAA series opener on Friday (Apr. 5). The Hornets improved their record to 15-4 (4-0 MIAA) on the season, and the Knights fell to 12-10 (3-1 MIAA).

Scoring Plays

The game was deadlocked at zero until the fifth inning when Logan Lockhart hit a one-hit single and eventually came around to score on a Lukas Bolton RBI single.

The Hornets doubled the lead in the sixth inning after Ryar Rinehart led the inning off with a single and came home on an RBI double by Robert Newland.

The final run came in the seventh inning when Kalamazoo capitalized on a Calvin error with Rinehart doubling in Tanner Hawkins.

Pitching

Jacob Davis (4-1) was stellar and efficient on the mound, allowing just three hits and a walk in the complete game shutout with six strikeouts.

Hitting

Ryar Rinehart went 2-4 at the plate with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Logan Lockhart reached twice on a hit and a walk. Robert Newland and Lukas Bolton picked up the other two RBI.
