Baseball Wins Big at Grace Christian

KENTWOOD, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team won 18-0 at Grace Christian University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday.

After a scoreless first inning, Kalamazoo put 10 runs on the board in the top of the second, highlighted by 3-run home runs by both Harrison Poeszat and Logan Lockhart.

David Beccari's sacrifice fly drove in a run in the third. The Hornets scored two runs on singles by Alex DiDio and Beccari in the fifth. Cam Kelly hit a 3-run home run in the sixth. Caleb Moore's sac fly in the top of the seventh capped off the scoring for Kalamazoo.

Seven Hornet pitchers combined for the shutout while limiting the Tigers to two hits. Kalamazoo pitchers struck out 12 and walked just one.

Reece Omodio went two innings in the start allowing no hits with one strikeout. Ben Van Nes struck out three batters on nine pitches in the third. Gabe Sokol (1 K), Jaden Williams (3 K), Eric Sheppard (2 K), Joe Wade (1 K) and Dean Turpin (1 K) went the rest of the way.

Harrison Poeszat was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Logan Lockhart was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Kalamazoo stole nine bases in the game, led by Cooper Mills and David Stechow with two apiece.
