Football falls 36-27 at Alma

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost 36-27 at Alma College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play Saturday night.

Kalamazoo got off to a great start as Elijah Hamilton-Wray returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown.

Alma responded with an 18-play drive to even the score at 7-7.

Kalamazoo went up 14-7 when Alex White connected with K.J. Schultz on a 5-yard score.

The Scots used a field goal and a touchdown early in the second quarter to take a 17-14 lead, but Kalamazoo responded with a 6-yard touchdown pass from White to Collin Feilla to regain the lead, 21-17.

Alma followed with a field goal and added another three points just before half to take a 23-21 lead into the locker room.

The scoring pace slowed down in the second half as it took nearly 12 minutes for the first score, a touchdown by Alma to put the Scots up 30-21.

Kalamazoo made it a 30-27 game early in the fourth quarter when White connected on his third touchdown of the game, a 1-yard pass to Justin Rabidoux.

Alma added some insurance with a 70-yard touchdown pass with 5:38 remaining in the game, giving the Scots a 36-27 advantage after the extra point was blocked.

Kalamazoo was intercepted on its final drive and the Scots ran out the final three and a half minutes to end the game.

Alex White was 19-of-43 passing for 125 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

Clay Wilkey led the Hornets with eight catches for 43 yards. Wilkey also rushed for 28 yards on 12 carries.

Collin Feilla had four catches for 33 yards while K.J. Schultz made three catches for 31 yards.

Dylan Zerki led the defense with 14 total tackles. Ronnie Russell had 12.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Olivet on Homecoming next Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.
