Kalamazoo College's Jakob Frederick was honored by D3football.com and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for his performance in the Hornets' 36-29 win over Oberlin College in the season opener last Saturday.
A sophomore from Spring Lake, Mich. (Spring Lake HS), Frederick was selected as one of three linebackers on the D3football.com Team of the Week as well as the MIAA's Defensive Player of the Week.
Frederick led the Hornets with 15 tackles, all of them solo, including two sacks totaling 25 yards. He also was credited with one pass break-up.
Kalamazoo (1-0) travels to Wheaton (Ill.) College (1-0) this Saturday for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff.
