Football Honors 2021 Seniors

Fourteen Kalamazoo College football seniors were honored prior to the game against Alma on Saturday, March 27. Following is what was read during the ceremony:

At this time, we would like to direct your attention to midfield as we honor the 14 seniors on the Kalamazoo College football team. We would like to thank each of them for their hard work, dedication, and representation of the football program over the past four years.

Our first senior is a linebacker, #5, Jacob Chantres from Livonia, Michigan and a graduate of Churchill High School. He is joined today by his mother, father and stepfather. Jacob is an economics major and history minor who plans on pursuing a career in business following graduation. Jacob is a three-year starter who has amassed 149 total tackles and 7.5 sacks over the course of his career. We salute #5, Jacob Chantres for his accomplishments as a Hornet football player on and off of the field.

Our next senior is a quarterback, #10, Brad Ekonen from Brighton, Michigan and a graduate of Hartland High School. He is joined today by his mother and father. Brad is a business major and studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. He plans on pursuing a career in sales following graduation. Brad has appeared in 10 games and passed for a total of 119 yards and also averaged 31 yards per punt. Please join us in recognizing #10, Brad Ekonen for his accomplishments as a member of the Kalamazoo College football team.

Our next senior is a wide receiver, #16, Garrett Guglielmetti from Shelby Township, Michigan and a gradute of Utica High School. He is joined today by his mother and father. Garrett is a biology major who plans to attend medical school following graduation. Garrett has appeared in 12 games as a receiver and on special teams. We salute #16, Garrett Guglielmetti for all of his accomplishments as a member of the Kalamazoo College football team.

We now honor senior linebacker, #17, Nate Micallef from Livonia, Michigan and a graduate of Stevenson High School. He is joined today by his mother, father and grandfather. Nathan is a business major and computer science minor who intends on purusuing a career in accouting with plans to obtain a master's degree and cpa license following graduation. Nathan has appeared 11 games and is a three-year member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Nathan is also the receipient of the William G. Howard Memorial Prize in Economics and the C. Wallace Lawrence Prize in Business. Please join us in recognizing #17, Nate Micallef for his accomplishments on and off of the field as a Hornet football player.

Our next senior is a defensive back, #25, Jake Osen from Livonia, Michigan and a graduate of Churchill High school. He is joined today by his mother and father. Jake is a biology major who plans on pursuing a career in environmental science following graudation. Jake is a four-year starter and has appeared in 30 games over his career, tallying 142 total tackles, 15 pass break ups and 5 interceptions. He has been a team leader in pass break-ups and interceptions and was a second team All-Miaa selection his sophomore season. We salute #25, Jake Osen for all of his achievements on and off of the field as a member of the Hornet football program.

We now would like to recognize senior linebacker, #33, Alex Stockwell from Diamondale, Michigan and a graduate of Holt High School. He is joined today by his mother and father. Alex is a chemistry major who plans on attending pharmacy school following graduation. Alex has appeared in a total of 24 games, amassing 126 total tackles, 6.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for a loss. As a junior, he led the team in tackles for loss and also was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Please join us iin honoring #33, Alex Stockwell for his accomplishments on and off of the field as a Hornet football player.

Our next senior is a linebacker, #35, Matt Kralick from Portage, Michigan and a graduate of Northern High School. He is joined today by his mother and father. Matt is majoring in business and minoring in Spanish. He plans on pursuing a career in marketing or sales following graduation. Matt has appeared in 8 games on defense and has been a standout performer on special teams over the course of his career. We salute #35, Matt Kralick for his accomplishments as a Hornet football player on and off of the field.

Our next senior is #36, defensive back Brandon Mach from St. Johnsbury, Vermont and a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. Brandon is joined today by his mother, father and brother. Brandon is a history major and political science minor who plans on attending graduate school following graduation. Brandon has appeared in 8 games as a corner and on special teams. Please join us in honoring #36, Brandon Mach for his accomplishments on and off of the field as a Hornet football player

We now honor senior linebacker #40, Taylor Jackson from Owosso, Michigan and a graduate of Corunna High School. Joining taylor today are his mother, father and brother. Taylor is a business major who plans on pursuing a career in construction management following graduation. Taylor has appeared in a total of 26 games, tallying 162 total tackles, 3 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, 5 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions. He has been a leader in tackles and an elite longsnapper for the Hornets over the past two seasons. We salute #40, Taylor Jackson for all of his achievements on and off of the field as a member of the Hornet football program.

Our next senior is an offensive lineman, #55, Trevor Whipple from Ludington, Michigan and a graduate of Ludington High School. Trevor is joined today by his mother and father. Trevor is a business and psychology double major and plans on pursuing a masters degree in human resources following graduation. Trevor has appeared in a total of 11 games at center in his career. Please join us in honoring #55, Trevor Whipple for his on and off-field accomplishments as a member of the Hornet football family.

Our next senior is offensive lineman, #74 Zach Brazil from Birmingham, Michigan and a graduate of Seaholm High School. Zach is joined today by his father, brother and sister. Zach is a biology major who plans on pursuing a masters degree in public health following graduation. Zach has appeared in 13 total games at tackle over the course of his career. We salute #74, Zach Brazil for his accomplishments on and off of the field as a Hornet football player.

We now recognize senior defensive lineman, #98 Alex Dupree from Royal Oak, Michigan and a graduate of Brother Rice High School. Alex is joined today by his mother, father and girlfriend. Alex is a business major and German minor who plans on pursuing a career in sports management following graduation. Alex has appeared in 15 games in his career, was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as a junior and was the recipient of the Division of Physical Education Prize his sophomore year. Please join us in honoring #98, Alex Dupree for his on and off-field accomplishments as a member of the Hornet football family.

Our next senior is a quarterback and team captain, #15 Brendan Gausselin from Battle Creek, Michigan and a graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central. Brendan is joined today by his mother, father and brother. Brendan is a business major who plans on purusing a career in medical sales at stryker. Brendan has appeared in 6 games; completing 51.5% of his passes for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brendan has twice been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and is also a member and captain of the Kalamazoo College baseball team. Please join us in honoring #15, Brendan Gausselin for his leadership and many accomplishments on and off the field as a Hornet football player.

We now honor senior defensive lineman and two-year captain, #99 Noah Coplan from River Forest, Illinois and a graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School. Noah is joined today by his mother and father. Noah is a business major and psychology minor who plans on pursuing a career in marketing or sales after graduation. Noah is a four-year starter who has appeared in 29 total games, tallying 119 total tackles and 11.5 sacks. Noah is a two-time All-MIAA first team defensive honoree and was a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District selection his junior year. Noah currently ranks eighth all-time for the most career sacks in Kalamazoo College football history. He is also a three time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. We salute #99, Noah Coplan for his leadership and many achievements on and off of the field as a member of the Hornet football program.

Thank you to all of our 14 seniors for their hard work, perserverence and dedication to the Kalamazoo College football program. We wish you all continued success as you pursue your future endeavors. Thank you all for being Hornets!
