Kalamazoo College men's basketball senior Mark Ghafari has been named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) Academic-Athletic Team.
The two teams (men and women) honor five outstanding scholar-athletes from Michigan colleges and universities at the NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA levels. To be eligible, players must be a starter or important reserve and hold at least a 3.2 grade point average.
The Grosse Pointe Shores native earned All-MIAA First Team honors in his final two years in a Kalamazoo uniform. Ghafari was a three-year captain and set numerous records during his senior season including points in a game, free throws attempted in a game, free throws made in a game and a season, and consecutive free throws made.
Ghafari is scheduled to graduate this June with a 3.81 grade point average and a degree in Economics.
As a team, Kalamazoo finished the season with a 10-15 record.
