Men's Basketball falls on the road at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 90-64 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Calvin College on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo fell behind quickly and trailed by as many as 15 points early. The Hornets cut the deficit to seven (31-24) with 6:02 left in the first half, but the host Knights used an 18-7 run to close out the half up 49-31.

Calvin extended its lead to 20 early in the second half. Kalamazoo cut it back to 16 with 12:59 remaining, but was unable to get any closer.

Calvin shot 43.8 percent overall while limiting Kalamazoo to just 29.7 percent. The Knights also outrebounded Kalamazoo 54-43.

Demarco Dickerson led Kalamazoo with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes.

Tommy Cerven scored 11 points in 22 minutes off the bench.

Mike Oravetz added nine points with six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Chase Baysdell scored eight points while Josh Miller finished with six points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Kalamazoo remains on the road Saturday as the Hornets head to Hope College for a 3 p.m. start.
