KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 89-58 to Spring Arbor University on Saturday. The visiting Cougars (13-2) are currently ranked No. 9 in NAIA Division II.
Kalamazoo trailed by just one (13-12) with 9:10 left in the first half, but Spring Arbor outscored Kalamazoo 25-5 over the final nine minutes to take a 38-17 lead into halftime.
Spring Arbor shot 50 percent from the field while making 24-of-33 free throws. Kalamazoo shot 39.7 percent and went 4-of-7 at the line. Spring Arbor outrebounded Kalamazoo 46-26, including 14-5 on the offensive end.
Bass Ollie led Kalamazoo with 13 points, four rebounds, and three steals on 5-of-7 shooting with three 3-pointers. Jeremiah Vincent finished with 10 points and three rebounds.
Tanner Blyly, Jarnard Smith, and Drake Thompson each scored six points off the bench. Smith led the team with five assists while Blyly shared the team lead with four rebounds.
Kalamazoo returns to action at home on Thursday, Dec. 20 with an 11:30 a.m. start against Earlham.
