Men's Basketball Wins at Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team won 96-80 at Olivet on Saturday to complete the regular-season sweep of the Comets.

Olivet scored the first basket of the game and led until the 7:37 mark when the Hornets tied the score at 25-25 before taking the lead on the next possession. Kalamazoo took a 41-37 lead into halftime.

Olivet scored the first basket of the second half and pulled ahead 42-41, but after a 44-44 tie, Kalamazoo regained the lead and never trailed the rest of the way.

Kalamazoo shot 45.2 percent overall compared to 50.8 percent by Olivet however, the Hornets shot better from 3-point range (48%-35%) while making 27-of-37 free throws compared to 9-of-13 by Olivet. The Comets outrebounded Kalamazoo 38-32, but the Hornets turned the ball over just 10 times compared to 18 by Olivet.

Tanner Blyly led Kalamazoo with 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Ben Reiter scored 17 points with eight rebounds. Thomas Cook scored 16 points while Tre Humes finished with 15 and Jeremiah Vincent had 11.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Albion College on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
