Men's Basketball Falls at Alma in Season Finale

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team's season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Hornets fell to the host Scots by a final score of 84-80.

After a closely contested start to the game, the Hornets used a quick 8-2 run midway through the first half to get out to an 18-10 lead. After leading 33-25 with 5:34 remaining in the half, Kalamazoo answered Alma's 11-1 run with a 10-2 scoring advantage to close out the half with a 44-38 lead. 

Kalamazoo held a 55-49 lead with 16:27 to play, but the Scots found a groove on the offensive end and found themselves up 66-60 with 11 minutes to play. The Hornets held on to a five-point advantage with just over five minutes to play, but Alma used one final run to end the game and secure a four-point victory.

The Hornets finished the game with a 45.7 percent field goal percentage (32-70) and made six of their 27 three-pointers. Kalamazoo out-rebounded Alma 46-36.

Senior Tanner Blyly closed out his Kalamazoo career with another big game as he poured in a team-high 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds and five assists. 

Merritt Hamann connected on seven of his 10 shot attempts to tally 15 points while grabbing five rebounds. 

Senior Ben Reiter joined Blyly with a double-double as he scored 13 points and collected 10 rebounds.
