Men's Basketball Falls to Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost its regular-season finale 83-62 to Hope at home on Saturday.

The lead changed several times early on with Kalamazoo building up a 17-12 advantage with 11:19 left in the first half. Hope went on a 14-0 run to tie the score and then take a 26-17 lead five minutes later at the 6:17 mark. The Flying Dutchmen led by as many as 13 before taking a 37-29 lead into halftime.

Kalamazoo was down 10 (59-49) with 9:08 left in the second half before a 12-0 run by Hope put the game out of reach at 71-49 with 5:34 remaining.

Kalamazoo shot 49 percent from the field compared to 48.5 percent by Hope. The Flying Dutchmen made 16-of-32 3-pointers compared to 7-of-19 by Kalamazoo. Hope also held a 36-25 advantage in rebounds.

Merritt Hamann led the Hornets with 21 points and six rebounds.

Thomas Cook scored 15 points with seven rebounds and four assists.

Jack Smith and Ty Horky each finished with seven points.
